Northwest Airlines Pilots License RevokedThe FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) revoked the licenses of both Northwest Airlines pilots who flew past their Minnesota airport destination by 150 miles while failing to answer radio calls and text messages or respond to an alarm during a 78-minute period. Read the official FAA letter revoking the pilot's license of Capt. Timothy B. Cheney. The pilots, Capt. Timothy B. Cheney, 53, and First Officer Richard I. Cole, 54, were in the cockpit of the Northwest Flight 188 Airbus A320 from San Diego, California, to Minneapolis-St. Paul. Air traffic controllers initially lost radio contact with the over the Denver, Colorado, area. Flight 188 carried 144 passengers, the two pilots and three flight attendants. Capt. Cheney had more than 20,000 hours of flight time experience at the time and First Officer Cole had approximately 11,000 hours of flight time, according to an NTSB report. According to the NTSB report, after landing at Minneapolis-St. Paul, both
pilots voluntarily underwent alcohol breath tests, which were negative.
